Mitech XXG2505 – Portable Inflatable X-Ray Flaw Detector

Product Overview

The Mitech XXG2505 is a portable inflatable X-ray flaw detector designed for high-efficiency, non-destructive testing (NDT). By utilizing the differences in X-ray absorption caused by material thickness and density, it effectively reveals internal flaws such as cracks, porosity, and weld defects with clear imaging on radiographic film. With its compact size, lightweight design, and easy operation, the XXG2505 is ideal for fieldwork in harsh or high-altitude environments.

Whether used for quality control or maintenance inspections, this unit offers reliable and stable performance with superior imaging clarity—making it a trusted choice in power generation, heavy industry, and structural engineering projects.

Function & Applications

The XXG2505 is widely used across various industries, including:

  • Shipbuilding and marine structures

  • Machinery manufacturing

  • Aerospace and railway sectors

  • Pressure vessels and boiler inspections

  • Oil, gas, petrochemical, and defense industries

It is ideal for detecting internal defects in welds, castings, and structural components, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Working Principle

This device generates X-rays that penetrate the material under inspection. As the rays pass through the object, their intensity is reduced based on material thickness and density. This variation creates a visible contrast on specialized X-ray film, revealing defects within the material.

By interpreting the resulting radiograph, users can identify the type, size, and position of internal flaws. The unit uses a silicon-controlled rectifier system to produce high-voltage pulses, generating X-rays in a sealed tube. The film, combined with a lead foil intensifying screen, captures the image, which is later processed and analyzed for evaluation.

Key Features

  • Compact & Portable: Lightweight and easy to operate in the field or at height.

  • Microcomputer-Controlled System: Ensures stable and efficient operation.

  • Adjustable Voltage & Current: Fine-tuned settings to meet diverse radiographic needs.

  • Comprehensive Protection System: Includes over-temperature and over-voltage protection.

  • Delayed High-Voltage Start: Enhances operator safety during exposure.

  • Anti-Interference Design: Reduces electromagnetic interference for consistent results.

  • 1:1 Work-Rest Ratio: Protects the equipment by enforcing cooling periods.

  • Isolated High-Voltage System: Improves safety and reliability during operation.

  • Compatible with Generator Units: Can operate on portable power sources for off-grid use.

Operating Conditions

  • Ambient Temperature: -25℃ to 40℃

  • Relative Humidity: ≤ 85%

  • Safe Working Pressure: 0.35–0.50 MPa
(Do not operate below 0.35 MPa pressure)

Safety Notes

  • Always use proper radiation shielding, such as 2 mm thick lead plates.

  • In the absence of shielding, no personnel should be within 20 meters of the unit during operation.

  • Ensure proper grounding and secure cable connections.

  • Do not power off the unit during rest periods—this is critical to allow the cooling fan to function.

  • Voltage fluctuations may activate built-in protection circuits—this is normal and not a malfunction.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Common issues and possible causes:

  • No display or fan: Check the power supply, cable connections, and fuses.

  • Error codes:

    • “LA”: Low current

    • “HA”: Excessive current

    • “PU”: Over-voltage

    • “PT”: Over-temperature

  • Buzzing sound or fuse blowout: Check the generator and air pressure (must be ≥ 0.35 MPa).

  • Electrical leakage: Check grounding and insulation conditions.
