Mitech XXG3005 Inflatable X-Ray Flaw Detector

Product Overview

The Mitech XXG3005 Inflatable X-Ray Flaw Detector is a high-performance portable NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) solution. It uses X-ray technology to identify internal flaws in various materials based on differences in material thickness and density. This model is optimized for on-site inspections, especially in harsh or high-altitude environments where portability and ease of use are critical.

Thanks to its advanced imaging clarity, the XXG3005 provides accurate visualization of internal defects—such as cracks, inclusions, and porosity—on X-ray film. The defect images are highly realistic and can be preserved long-term for documentation and analysis. Its strong anti-interference capability, lightweight design, and robust performance make it an ideal solution for fieldwork across numerous industries.

Key Applications

This instrument is widely applied in industries such as:

  • Shipbuilding

  • Aerospace and Aviation

  • Railway and Transportation

  • Machinery Manufacturing

  • Pressure Vessel and Boiler Inspection

  • Oil & Gas, Chemical, and Petrochemical Sectors

  • National Defense and Military Engineering

It is ideal for detecting welding flaws, casting defects, and structural inconsistencies to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards.

Working Principle

The XXG3005 operates by emitting X-rays through a material, which are then captured on specialized film. Variations in material thickness or density alter the absorption of X-rays, producing contrast on the film. Defects are revealed as darker or lighter areas, depending on how much radiation is absorbed.

The unit uses a silicon-controlled, single-phase bridge rectifier to convert AC power to a high-voltage DC pulse. This pulse powers an X-ray tube, accelerating electrons to strike the anode and generate X-rays. These rays interact with the test object and expose a silver halide X-ray film. After development, the resulting radiograph reveals internal defects for evaluation.

Main Features

  • Compact & Lightweight: Designed for easy transport and on-site operation.

  • Microcomputer Control: Enables precise and stable operation.

  • Temperature Protection: Automatically cuts off high voltage when overheating is detected.

  • Stable Current Control: Ensures consistent X-ray output by adjusting filament voltage.

  • Adjustable KV Unit: Allows continuous control of tube voltage to accommodate different materials.

  • Advanced Anti-Interference Circuit: Enhances stability and reduces high-voltage interference.

  • Complete Safety Protections: Includes error display and fault identification system.

  • 1:1 Duty Cycle: Ensures optimal rest time between operations to protect the device.

  • High Voltage Delay Start: Provides time for the operator to exit the danger zone.

  • Power Grid Adaptability: Compatible with portable generator units for flexible use.

Operating Conditions

  • Ambient Temperature: -25°C to +40°C

  • Relative Humidity: ≤ 85%

  • Safe Operating Pressure: 0.35 – 0.50 MPa
(Do not operate below 0.35 MPa pressure)

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: The display shows “HH”, fan starts, buzzer sounds. After 15 seconds, the display resets to show exposure time.

  2. Set Exposure Time: Use the knob to adjust time.

  3. Warm-Up: Perform a warm-up before use to improve vacuum conditions in the X-ray tube.

  4. Adjust Voltage: Set the required KV level.

  5. Start Exposure: Press the “HV ON” button. The device emits X-rays and begins the countdown.

  6. Auto Shutdown: After exposure, the system powers down and enters a cooling/rest cycle.

Cancel Delay

  • Option 1: Restart the unit.

  • Option 2: Hold the “HV ON” button until the display reads “00”.

Safety Notes

  • Use 2 mm thick lead shielding during operation.

  • If no shielding is present, keep all personnel at least 20 meters from the unit.

  • Check and maintain air pressure—do not operate below 0.35 MPa.

  • Ensure grounding is secure and all cables are clean and properly connected.

  • Do not turn off power during rest time—this allows the cooling fan to function.

  • Voltage fluctuations may trigger protection circuits—this is normal and not a malfunction.
