Product Overview

The Mitech MDW-ZS is a next-generation digital Webster hardness tester designed for rapid, non-destructive hardness testing (NDT) of aluminum alloy components directly at the production site. This smart, compact device features a built-in micro electric motor that automates the indentation process with just one button press—significantly reducing operator fatigue and increasing testing efficiency.

Equipped with a clear digital display, an advanced non-dismantling calibration system, and an indenter protection mechanism, the MDW-ZS ensures accurate and reliable measurements every time. Its user-friendly design and portability make it ideal for use in production lines, product inspections, quality control processes, and project acceptance across the aluminum industry.

Key Features

  • Fast, On-Site NDT Testing: Delivers quick hardness readings for aluminum alloys without damaging the material.

  • Automated Testing with One-Button Operation: Simply press the switch to initiate the measurement—perfect for high-volume batch testing.

  • Digital Display: Offers clear and easy-to-read results, enhancing operator convenience.

  • Indenter Protection System: Prevents misoperation and ensures long-term accuracy.

  • Tool-Free Calibration: Calibrate the device quickly without the need to dismantle parts.

  • Pre-Pressing Mechanism: Ensures vertical alignment during testing, avoiding errors due to misplacement.

  • Adjustable Anvil Gap: Suitable for testing workpieces of varying thicknesses.

  • Lightweight & Portable: Weighs only 0.65 kg, ideal for field applications and mobile testing.

  • Low Operator Skill Requirement: Easy to use with minimal training, suitable for production line personnel.

  • Auto Power-Off: Conserves energy with an automatic shutoff function after 20 seconds of inactivity.

Applications

  • Inspecting whether aluminum components have been heat-treated.

  • Verifying material composition to detect incorrect alloy usage.

  • Measuring large or heavy workpieces where conventional testers are impractical.

  • Performing acceptance inspections in aluminum factories.

  • Quality control in construction projects involving aluminum doors, windows, and curtain walls.

  • Technical supervision and engineering inspection departments.

Working Principle

The MDW-ZS uses the indentation principle to measure hardness: the smaller the indentation made under a fixed pressure, the harder the material. The Webster Hardness value (HW) is displayed directly and can be converted to HV or HR if needed. If the hardness exceeds the measurement range, the dial indicator will point at 20 HW; if too soft, the indicator will remain at 0.

Operating Instructions

  1. Activate the Device: Press the switch for 1 second until the red indicator light turns on.

  2. Place the Workpiece: Position the workpiece between the anvil and the pre-pressing device.

  3. Read the Value: A beep indicates the hardness value is displayed. Keep the instrument steady during testing.

  4. Release the Switch: The indenter will return to its original position.

  5. Auto Shutdown: After 20 seconds of inactivity, the device automatically powers off.
