The HI93721-01 reagents are high-quality and pre-dosed to ensure quick and precise colorimetric measurements. They are based on an adaptation of the USEPA method 315B (phenanthroline method) and Standard Method 3500-Fe B. This procedure involves a reagent that includes both a reducing and complexing agent, converting nearly all forms of iron in the sample to the ferrous (Fe²⁺) or soluble state. When added to an iron-containing sample, the reagent causes the sample to turn orange; the deeper the color, the higher the iron concentration. The color intensity is measured using a compatible photometer, and the concentration is displayed in mg/L (ppm) as total iron. These reagents are intended for samples with an iron concentration range of 0.00 to 5.00 ppm.
