Working Principle

The MT160 calculates thickness by emitting an ultrasonic pulse into the material and measuring the time it takes for the echo to return. The formula used is:
H = v × t / 2
Where:

  • H = Thickness

  • v = Sound velocity in the material

  • t = Two-way transit time of the pulse
