Mitech XXH-3005 Inflatable X-Ray Flaw Detector

Product Overview

The Mitech XXH-3005 is a high-performance inflatable X-ray flaw detector designed for non-destructive testing (NDT) of internal material defects. It operates by utilizing the differences in X-ray absorption across various material thicknesses, enabling accurate detection of internal flaws such as cracks, porosity, and inclusions. Test results are captured on X-ray film with clear, high-definition imagery, allowing precise defect identification.

Compact, lightweight, and easy to operate, this portable device is ideal for use in challenging field conditions, including elevated or remote sites. Engineered with microcomputer control, intelligent safety features, and high interference resistance, the XXH-3005 is a reliable solution for quality assurance across industries like shipbuilding, aerospace, railway, pressure vessel inspection, petrochemicals, and national defense.

Key Features

  • Portable & Durable Design: Lightweight and compact structure, ideal for field operations.

  • Microcomputer Control System: Enables precise adjustment of tube voltage (kV) and tube current (mA) for accurate exposure settings across different materials.

  • Overtemperature Protection: Automatically cuts off high voltage if temperature exceeds safe limits to protect the X-ray tube.

  • Stable mA Output: Pulse frequency control ensures steady tube current during operation.

  • Adjustable Tube Voltage: Continuously variable control to match different material testing requirements.

  • Anti-Interference Circuit: Reduces high-voltage pulses, enhancing operational stability.

  • Built-in Safety Protections: Displays fault codes (e.g., LA, HA, PU, PT) for easy diagnostics.

  • Delayed High-Voltage Start: Allows operators to move to a safe distance before X-ray emission.

  • Electrical Isolation: Ensures operational safety by isolating high-voltage from control circuitry.

  • Custom Grid Compatibility: Adapts to generator units and varying electrical environments.

Working Principle

The XXH-3005 generates high-energy X-rays by accelerating electrons through a high-voltage pulse transformer and directing them onto an anode target. When the high-speed electrons interact with the target material, X-rays are emitted. These rays pass through the test object and are partially absorbed depending on the material’s density and thickness. Variations in absorption are captured on a special double-sided X-ray film.

The darker areas of the film indicate higher radiation exposure (thinner or defective regions), while lighter areas show denser, intact material. The developed film provides a visual map of internal structures and defects, enabling accurate inspection and evaluation.

Operating Conditions

  • Ambient Temperature: -25°C to +40°C

  • Relative Humidity: ≤ 85%

  • Safe Working Pressure: 0.35 – 0.50 MPa

Note: Do not operate the device if pressure is below 0.35 MPa.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: The system initializes with a display of “HH,” fan activates, and buzzer alerts for 15 seconds. Then it enters standby mode.

  2. Set Exposure Time: Use the dial to select the desired duration.

  3. Warm-Up: Always warm up before use to ensure vacuum integrity and prevent tube damage.

  4. Adjust Voltage: Set the required tube voltage (kV).

  5. Start Exposure: Press “HV ON.” The unit begins countdown and emits X-rays.

  6. End of Exposure: High voltage cuts off automatically after countdown. The unit enters rest mode and prepares for the next cycle.

  7. Delayed Start Function: Press and hold “HV ON” for 3 seconds to enter delay setting (0.1 to 5 minutes). Release to store the delay. Repress to activate.

To Cancel Delay:

  • Restart the device, or

  • Press “HV ON” again and release when “00” displays.

Safety Notes

  • Always use appropriate radiation shielding (e.g., 2mm lead plate).

  • If no shielding is available, ensure a 20-meter safety radius from the unit during operation.

  • Ensure proper grounding of the controller for operator safety.

  • Maintain continuous power during rest cycles to allow fan cooling.

  • Temporary voltage drops may trigger circuit protection—this is normal and not a fault.
