Product Overview

The Mitech XXHA-2505 is a portable inflatable X-ray flaw detector engineered for high-performance non-destructive testing (NDT). Based on X-ray absorption differences due to material thickness, this device accurately detects internal flaws in metals and other materials. Its compact design, lightweight structure, and intuitive operation make it highly suitable for harsh environments—especially when paired with mobile power generators.

By producing clear and direct radiographic images on film, the XXHA-2505 offers precise visualization of defect size, type, and location—supporting long-term defect documentation. It performs reliably across various material types and surface conditions, unaffected by surface roughness or grain structure. With robust anti-interference performance and exceptional stability, it is widely used in industries such as shipbuilding, aerospace, energy, and more.

Applications

The XXHA-2505 is ideal for flaw detection and quality control in:

  • Shipbuilding

  • Machinery manufacturing

  • Aviation and aerospace

  • Railways and transportation

  • Pressure vessels and boilers

  • Oil and chemical industries

  • National defense and military sectors

Working Principle

The detector emits X-rays that pass through a test material. Variations in thickness or internal flaws cause differing X-ray absorption levels, which are captured on X-ray film. When developed, the film reveals the size, shape, and location of defects.

The XXHA-2505 utilizes a silicon-controlled single-phase bridge rectifier to convert AC to DC. A chopper circuit transforms the voltage into variable-frequency pulses, which power a high-voltage transformer. These pulses energize an X-ray tube, accelerating electrons from cathode to anode. When electrons collide with the anode’s metal atoms, they produce X-rays that penetrate the test object.

X-ray intensity is reduced as it travels through material—captured by a photosensitive film that darkens in proportion to exposure. This photographic effect enables visual evaluation of internal flaws after development.

Technical Features

  • Microcomputer-Controlled Operation: Modern internal structure with a sleek, portable design.

  • Field-Optimized Construction: Lightweight and compact for easy deployment in difficult environments.

  • Over-Temperature Protection: Automatically halts high-voltage operation to protect the X-ray tube.

  • Stable Output Control: Adjustable pulse frequency maintains stable tube current.

  • Adjustable KV Output: Continuously variable voltage settings to match different radiographic requirements.

  • Anti-Interference Circuitry: Minimizes electromagnetic disturbances for system stability.

  • Comprehensive Fault Detection: Automatic error detection and code display.

  • 1:1 Duty Cycle Compliance: Adheres to required work/rest intervals for system longevity.

  • Delayed High Voltage Start: Allows safe exit from the exposure zone before operation begins.

  • High Voltage Isolation: Ensures reliable and safe high-voltage operation.

  • Generator Power Adaptability: Designed to work with generator-supplied power sources.

Working Conditions

  • Operating Temperature: -25°C to +40°C

  • Relative Humidity: ≤ 85%

  • Safe Operating Pressure: 0.35 – 0.50 MPa
Note: Do not operate if air pressure is below 0.35 MPa.

Operating Instructions

  1. Startup: Turn on the unit. “HH” appears on the display. Cooling fan and warning light activate. After 15 seconds, exposure time appears.

  2. Set Exposure Time: Use the knob to select required duration.

  3. Warm-Up: Always warm up before operation to maintain tube vacuum and prevent damage.

  4. Set Voltage (KV): Adjust to the desired value for your material.

  5. Start Exposure: Press the “HV” key. X-rays are generated, and a countdown begins.

  6. End of Exposure: When the timer reaches zero, high voltage shuts off automatically. The system then enters a rest cycle before it can be used again.

Delayed Start Setup:

  • Press and hold the “HV” key for 3 seconds to enter delay mode (0.1 to 5 minutes).

  • Release the button to save. Press again to initiate the delayed start.

  • To cancel the delay, either turn the unit off and on again, or press “HV” once more to display “00”.
