Product Overview

The Mitech XXQ-2005 is a high-performance, inflatable-type portable X-ray flaw detector designed for non-destructive testing (NDT) in a wide range of industries. It leverages differences in material thickness and density to detect internal defects through radiographic imaging. The captured images are clear and accurate, enabling reliable assessment of structural integrity.

With its compact design, lightweight build, and straightforward operation, this model is especially suited for harsh environments and cooperative testing with generator units. It performs reliably even when surface roughness or grain size vary, making it ideal for applications involving diverse materials. Thanks to its strong anti-interference capabilities, thermal protection features, and durable structure, it is a dependable choice for high-altitude, on-site, or industrial settings.

Applications

Widely used across multiple sectors, including:

  • Shipbuilding

  • Aerospace and aviation

  • Railways

  • Pressure vessels and boiler manufacturing

  • Petrochemical and oil & gas industries

  • Machinery manufacturing

  • National defense and military applications

Working Principle

The XXQ-2005 emits X-rays that pass through a test object. Internal flaws absorb X-rays differently, creating variations in exposure on special film. These differences appear as dark or light areas after development, providing visible evidence of cracks, voids, or other discontinuities. This is the basis of radiographic inspection.

The generator operates using a silicon-controlled rectifier and a single-phase bridge rectifier, converting AC to DC. This is further processed by a thyristor chopper into high-frequency pulses, which are stepped up through a transformer and sent to a dual-stage X-ray tube. Electrons accelerated within the tube emit X-rays when they strike the anode target. The image is captured on double-emulsion X-ray film enhanced with a lead intensifying screen.

Key Features

  • Microcomputer-Controlled: For precise, stable, and automated operations.

  • Portable & Compact: Lightweight and easy to carry for field inspections.

  • Over-Temperature Protection: Automatically cuts off voltage to prevent damage to the tube.

  • Stable Current Control (mA): Ensures consistent intensity by adjusting pulse frequency.

  • Variable Voltage Control (kV): Continuously adjustable tube voltage meets various testing needs.

  • Anti-Interference Design: Protects internal circuits from high-voltage noise.

  • Comprehensive Protection System: Displays fault codes for easy troubleshooting.

  • Safe Duty Cycle: Follows a 1:1 ratio of operation and rest time to prevent overheating.

  • Delayed High Voltage Activation: Allows safe operator distance before radiation begins.

  • Isolated High-Voltage Circuit: Ensures greater operational safety.

  • Generator-Compatible Power System: Designed to work seamlessly with generator units in the field.

Operating Environment

  • Temperature Range: -25°C to 40°C

  • Relative Humidity: ≤ 85%

  • Safe Operating Pressure: 0.35–0.50 MPa
(Do not operate below 0.35 MPa)

Operating Instructions

  1. Power on and allow the system to initialize.

  2. Set appropriate parameters (kV, mA, exposure time) based on test requirements.

  3. Warm up the device before use to preserve tube life.

  4. Use the “HV ON” button to activate X-ray with a safety delay.

  5. Follow the 1:1 operating/rest cycle for prolonged use.

  6. After testing, develop the film and examine the radiographic image for internal flaws.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

Do not attempt to open or repair the generator yourself. Contact Mitech’s service team if a fault occurs.

Common Issues and Possible Causes:

IssueCause
No display or fanCable fault, broken power switch, blown 3A fuse
Error codes: “LA” / “HA” / “PU” / “PT”Respectively: No mA / Overcurrent / Overvoltage / Overheat
20A fuse blows on HV startFault in generator or controller, or low internal air pressure (<0.35 MPa)
“LA” error after HV startPoor cable connection, X-ray tube fault, broken controller circuit, or blown 20A fuse
Electric leakagePoor grounding or insulation failure
