MT-1A Magnetic Particle Flaw Detector
Brand: Mitech
Model: MT-1A
Product Overview
The MT-1A Magnetic Particle Flaw Detector is a high-performance, portable digital device designed for non-destructive testing (NDT). It utilizes an advanced large-capacity lithium battery to power its operations, eliminating the need for a traditional 220V power supply. Featuring low power consumption and an operational time of over 4 hours, it ensures reliability in field testing, high-altitude inspections, and locations without direct power sources. The device allows real-time monitoring, image processing, data storage, and report printing, making it a valuable tool for professionals seeking efficient and accurate flaw detection.

Applications
The MT-1A is widely used across multiple industries requiring rigorous flaw detection, including:
- Aerospace: Aircraft manufacturing and maintenance
- Oil & Gas: Pipeline and valve inspections
- Automotive & Machinery: Vehicle parts, gears, bearings, and high-strength bolts
- Shipbuilding & Marine: Anchor chains and welded components
- Energy & Power: Turbines, boilers, and pressure vessels
- Railway & Bridges: Structural integrity assessments
- Manufacturing & Engineering: Metal components, springs, and crankshafts
Working Principle
The MT-1A operates by creating a high-intensity magnetic field around the workpiece. When a defect such as a crack or slag inclusion is present, magnetic flux leakage occurs. By applying magnetic powder (usually iron oxide), the particles accumulate near the defect, forming visible traces. Under proper lighting, these markings help inspectors determine the position, size, shape, and severity of the flaws.
Operating Conditions$
- Operating Temperature: -10°C to +40°C
- Storage Temperature: -20°C to +70°C
- Relative Humidity: ≤ 80%
- Environment: Should be free from strong vibrations, magnetic interference, corrosive substances, and excessive dust.
Operating Instructions & Precautions
- Setup & Connection: Connect the detector to the power source and start the device. Adjust the polar distance according to the workpiece size.
- Applying Magnetic Powder: For dry powder detection, evenly spread the powder on the workpiece.
- Flaw Detection: Move the electromagnetic yoke at 40mm/s, ensuring proper contact with the workpiece.
- Overlap Considerations: Ensure overlapping scans are less than 25mm to prevent missing defects.
- Assessing Defects: If an indication appears, remove excess powder and verify the flaw. If unclear, clean and retest the surface.
- Image Capture & Reporting: If a defect is confirmed, capture the image and generate a test report.
Maintenance & Care
- Handle with Care: Avoid unplugging cables while the device is powered on.
- Cleaning: Use a soft cloth to clean oil and debris after each use to prevent contamination.
- Storage: Keep the device in a dry, well-ventilated area, free from extreme vibrations.
- Button Sensitivity: Do not press buttons excessively or use metal objects to operate them.
- Battery & Charging: Use only the original charger; charge time is approximately 4-6 hours. The red indicator signals charging, and the green indicator shows a full charge.
- Electromagnetic Yoke Care: Ensure the yoke is well connected to the workpiece. When not in use, lubricate the joint to prevent rust.
