Mitech MT150 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge
Reliable and Versatile Non-Destructive Thickness Measurement for Industrial Applications
Brand: Mitech
Model: MT150
Product Overview
The Mitech MT150 is a high-performance digital ultrasonic thickness gauge designed for non-destructive testing (NDT) of a wide range of materials including metals, plastics, ceramics, glass, and other ultrasonic wave-conductive substances. Based on the pulse-echo ultrasonic principle, it allows thickness measurement from one accessible side only, making it ideal for closed pipes, tanks, and structures that cannot be measured by conventional means.
With a compact, rugged design and fast response time, the MT150 is widely used for corrosion monitoring, precision measurement of sheet metal, and inspection of pressure vessels in industries such as petrochemical, shipbuilding, aerospace, and manufacturing. It is an essential tool for maintenance and quality control professionals.

Applications
The MT150 is suitable for a wide range of industrial and on-site measurement tasks, such as:
Corrosion inspection in pipelines, boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels
Wall thickness measurement of pipes and tubing with inner corrosion or inaccessible back sides
Monitoring wear and thinning in ship hulls, aircraft parts, and heavy machinery
Measurement of flat or curved surfaces, including small-diameter pipes
Testing hot surfaces with appropriate calibration and high-temperature probes
Inspection of laminated materials (e.g., composites) with attention to internal air pockets
Important Usage Notes
Pipe Measurement:
For pipes larger than 4 inches in diameter, align the transducer gap perpendicular to the pipe axis. For smaller pipes, take two readings—parallel and perpendicular—and use the smaller value.High-Temperature Surfaces:
Sound velocity decreases with temperature. Calibrate using a sample at similar temperature, and use high-temperature transducers as needed.Laminated Materials:
Always calibrate to the specific material batch. Be aware that air gaps within laminates can create misleading low thickness values.Couplants:
Use a coupling medium such as water, oil, glycol, or gel to ensure proper sound transmission. For high-temperature surfaces, use specialized high-temp couplants.Measurement Accuracy:
Improper probe handling or material variation can lead to incorrect readings, including false double thickness from echo misinterpretation. Users must verify accuracy in critical measurements.
Maintenance and Storage
Store in a clean, dry environment free from strong magnetic fields, corrosive agents, or heavy dust.
Do not disassemble or attempt to repair internal components. Contact authorized service personnel for any abnormalities.
Transport using original packaging; suitable for third-grade highway conditions.
