Mitech MT180 Multi-Mode Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge – Complete
Product Overview
The Mitech MT180 Multi-Mode Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge is a versatile and precise instrument designed for measuring the thickness of a wide range of materials. By utilizing advanced ultrasonic technology, this gauge offers reliable measurements for materials such as metals, plastics, ceramics, glass, and other materials that effectively conduct ultrasonic waves. This model can also measure the sound velocity of materials with known thickness. Unlike traditional measurement methods, the MT180 requires contact with only one side of the material, making it a non-destructive testing solution. It can easily measure through coatings, eliminating the need to remove surface coatings before taking measurements. This feature makes it highly effective for testing corrosion and thickness reduction in pipelines, pressure vessels, and other critical components in industries like petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, shipbuilding, aviation, and aerospace.

Working Principle:
The MT180 uses ultrasonic pulses to measure the thickness of a material. The pulse travels through the material, reflects from the back or inside surface, and returns to the transducer. The time taken for this pulse to travel back is measured, and using the formula H = v × t / 2, the thickness is calculated.
H = Thickness of the test piece
v = Sound velocity in the material
t = Measured round-trip transit time
